BTR AMP v18.4 introduces support for M3U/M3U8 playlist files. Here’s how they work:
Use of Relative Paths:
• M3U files should contain only relative paths. These paths can be relative to either the BTR AMP root folder or the location of the playlist file itself. This flexibility allows you to store playlists in folders that may not be direct ancestors of your audio files.
Automatic Detection and Import:
• M3U playlist files are automatically identified and imported during the “AutoScan” process, just like your audio files. Simply download or import them as you normally would.
New Playlist Type:
• Imported M3U playlists appear as a new “File Playlist” type in the list of playlists.
Missing Songs Warning:
• If any songs in the playlist are missing, a warning will be displayed. AutoScan will periodically rescan these files until all missing songs are found. You can also manually trigger a rescan via the long-press menu.
• M3U files should be encoded using the UTF-8 text encoding. BTR AMP will attempt to read M3U files created using other text encodings, but no guarantees can be made that they will work. If BTR AMP is warning you that there are missing songs while you know that you have downloaded them into BTR AMP, the easiest solution is to convert your M3U file to use UTF-8.
Exporting Playlists:
• To export a playlist as an M3U file, long press on the playlist and select “Export to M3U File”.
Relative Paths for Exported Files:
• Paths in exported M3U files are relative to the BTR AMP root folder.
Handling iTunes and Local Files in Exports:
• BTR AMP playlists that contain both iTunes Library and local files will create entries for both in the exported M3U file. These files can be re-imported, allowing you to backup playlists containing iTunes Library songs, while other apps should ignore the iTunes Library URLs.
